The Bully

There's a word for people who pick on those who cannot defend themselves.

It's coward.

But we call them bullies.

A bully is someone who uses their power, their size, their position, or their authority to intimidate, hurt, or control people they see as weaker. They are "habitually cruel or overbearing," and the behavior is designed to force you to do something you don't want to do.

The truth is simpler than that.

A bully is someone so cowardly that they only pick on people who cannot defend themselves.

The Mask of Strength

Bullies always pretend to be strong. They posture. They threaten. They make noise. They try to convince you that they have all the power.

But real strength doesn't need to prove itself.

Real strength doesn't need to intimidate. Real strength doesn't need to control. Real strength doesn't need to tear others down to feel big.

The Bully in the Room

You've met this person.

The one who talks loudest. The one who threatens. The one who makes you feel small. The one who uses their position to silence anyone who disagrees with them.

They might be a boss. They might be a politician. They might be a neighbor. They might be someone you trusted.

But the pattern is always the same:

• They target people who can't fight back
• They use fear to control
• They lie to protect their power
• They surround themselves with enablers
• They crumble when confronted

What Bullies Don't Understand

Bullies think they're winning. They think they're proving their strength.

They don't understand that everyone sees through them.

Everyone knows they're cowards. Everyone knows they're liars. Everyone knows they're hiding behind their power because they're afraid of being exposed.

They don't understand that their victims are only victims because they choose not to fight back — not because they can't.

And they don't understand that one day, someone will fight back.

The Moment of Truth

There comes a moment when you've been pushed too far.

When patience runs out. When politeness is no longer an option. When you look a bully in the eye and tell them exactly what they are.

"You're a god damned liar."

That's the moment the bully realizes they've miscalculated. They thought you were weak. They thought you wouldn't fight back.

They were wrong.

And once you've said it, you can't unsay it. The spell is broken. The bully is exposed. And everyone in the room knows exactly who the weak one really is.

How to Spot a Bully

• They pick on people who can't defend themselves — children, the elderly, the marginalized, the powerless
• They surround themselves with enablers — people who will nod along and protect them
• They lie to protect their power — truth is their enemy
• They threaten anyone who challenges them — because they're afraid of being exposed
• They crumble when confronted — because deep down, they know they're cowards

How to Handle a Bully

1. Don't be intimidated. They're not as strong as they pretend to be.
2. Speak the truth. Bullies rely on silence. Take it away.
3. Call them out. Say it plainly. "You're a bully."
4. Refuse to play their game. Their power depends on your participation.
5. Support their victims. Bullies target people who are alone. Don't let them be alone.

What This Means for Me

I've met bullies. I've seen what they do to people. I've watched them lie, threaten, and intimidate their way through life.

But I've also seen what happens when someone finally stands up to them.

The bully crumbles.

Because bullies aren't strong. They're cowards. And cowards can't handle the truth.
